How do I download an encrypted file with Lock&Go in FileGrant?

Lock&Go wraps your file inside a protected PDF. Recipients must authenticate to view it — and you stay in control even after sending.

Lock&Go lets you send a file outside the platform inside an encrypted, protected PDF. The recipient must authenticate to view it, and you keep full control at all times.

 

How to generate the encrypted file

  1. Click the three dots ⋮ next to the file.
  2. Select Download encrypted.
  3. A PDF is generated and downloaded to your computer's Downloads folder.

 

What the PDF contains

  • A file description (customizable)
  • Company logo and colors, if configured
  • A Show Content button to access the document

 

How the recipient accesses it

  1. They open the PDF and click Show Content.
  2. They enter their email address.
  3. They receive an OTP code by email and enter it.
  4. They view the file directly on the platform, subject to the same permissions as the original.

 💡 Tip: Any change to the original file — content, permissions, or a revoked share — is automatically reflected in the protected PDF. If you revoke access, the recipient can no longer open the PDF either.
